We, Marte and John Håland are the third generation running Flåm hostel & camping. We live here as a family with our three children all year round. John’s parents are working and living here as well. It all started in 1972 when Johns grandparents Knut and Nelly Brekke hosted the first camping guest. They run a farm with goats and sheep’s which was very common in those days. Over the years more tourists visited Flåm and the need for more cabins and rooms grew.

From 1985 to 2010 Johns parents Gjertrud and Erling Håland built and developed the camping ground and youth hostel to what it is today. Their focus on quality, cleanliness and being friendly hosts has given the company a solid  reputation.

Although we are not farming anymore we like to keep some sheeps, goats, hens and rabbits. Don’t be surprised if you see John on the street with his bike in front of a sheep herd!
